2010 Sparx City Hop!

Sparx City Hop is a free all day event that celebrates the visual, culinary and performing arts of Cleveland’s most central and metropolitan neighborhoods. Free trolley service by Lolly the Trolley allows individuals and families to “hop” through the neighborhoods of Downtown (Historic Gateway Neighborhood, Historic Warehouse District, PlayhouseSquare and the Campus District) plus the neighborhoods that connect directly to Downtown (Tremont, Ohio City, MidTown, AsiaTown and St. Clair Superior). The trolley routes connect people to over 60 galleries & artist studios, over 100 restaurants, several markets and dozens of specialty retail shops. In addition, Sparx City Hop includes a variety of sidewalk concerts, main stage performances, special gallery and studio events, the Terminal Tower observation deck, the Tower City Street Fair, the Sparx Classic Car Show, a variety of merchant specials and so much more.

Day Two Will Be Open to the Public All Day!

Due to the number of requests and inquiries from the general public, the organizers and exhibitors of Cleveland’s First Furniture and Millwork Fair have graciously decided to open the exhibits of the fair to the general public for the entire day of Thursday, July 15th. Doors open at 8am.

Nick Kostis Recieves Lifetime Achievement Award!

On June 13, 2010, the Ohio Restaurant Association will bestow its highest honor (a Lifetime Achievement Award) upon Downtown Restaurateur Nick Kostis, operator of Pickwick & Frolic Restaurant and Club.

The award will be given at the Ohio Restaurant Association’s Chairman’s & Industry Awards Event at the Ritz-Carlton, Cleveland, this Sunday. ORA, which celebrated its 90th anniversary this year, hosts the event to recognize excellence among restaurateurs, industry purveyors and public officials whose actions have benefited Ohio’s foodservice industry.

E.4th Patio Parties Start Tonight!

Every Thursday night this summer, come enjoy the weather and the atmosphere on E.4th Street! There will be great food, drink specials, live music, retailers on the street and sidewalk performers.

Every Thursday, the fun starts at 5pm (and goes till 8pm) with local musicians playing everything from jazz to acoustic guitar, local boutique owners selling items such as jewelry & vintage clothes, all while being entertained by the St. Ignatius street performers. Go Fourth & Party!

Intl Fair Trade Day Event on May 6th

On Thursday May 6, fair trade retailer Ten Thousand Villages Cleveland will present a powerful evening with best selling author Loung Ung. The event is free and open to the public.

Ung, who survived Cambodia’s killing fields as a young child more than 30 years ago to eventually move to Shaker Heights, Ohio, has become an internationally celebrated human rights activist and author of a national best-selling memoir, “First they Killed My Father”. Despite the despair and isolation of her childhood, Ung now shares her story of triumph with an attitude of hope and humility. She has appeared on National Public Radio, The Today Show, Nightline and has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post and the London Sunday Times.

Chinato is Open on E.4th!

Chinato, an old-meets-new Italian culinary concept, is the newest member of East Fourth Street. Chinato, named after a flavorful Italian after-dinner wine enriched with herbs, spices and Cinchona bark, is the award winning chef Zach Bruell’s fourth restaurant within the city of Cleveland. Curbside Coffee Service in Downtown

Phoenix Coffee on West 9th Street, is offering curbside service for customers starting Wednesday December 16th through Thursday December 31st as a holiday service treat.
