2010 Sparx City Hop!

Sparx City Hop is a free all day event that celebrates the visual, culinary and performing arts of Cleveland’s most central and metropolitan neighborhoods. Free trolley service by Lolly the Trolley allows individuals and families to “hop” through the neighborhoods of Downtown (Historic Gateway Neighborhood, Historic Warehouse District, PlayhouseSquare and the Campus District) plus the neighborhoods that connect directly to Downtown (Tremont, Ohio City, MidTown, AsiaTown and St. Clair Superior). The trolley routes connect people to over 60 galleries & artist studios, over 100 restaurants, several markets and dozens of specialty retail shops. In addition, Sparx City Hop includes a variety of sidewalk concerts, main stage performances, special gallery and studio events, the Terminal Tower observation deck, the Tower City Street Fair, the Sparx Classic Car Show, a variety of merchant specials and so much more.

Day Two Will Be Open to the Public All Day!

Due to the number of requests and inquiries from the general public, the organizers and exhibitors of Cleveland’s First Furniture and Millwork Fair have graciously decided to open the exhibits of the fair to the general public for the entire day of Thursday, July 15th. Doors open at 8am.

Cavs Fans Unite Tomorrow Morning!

Show the world the power of home tomorrow morning (Saturday, July 3rd). Cavs fans from all over Northeast Ohio will line both sides of E.9th Street (from Carnegie to St. Clair) tomorrow morning at 10am. Meetings with LeBron James, the Chicago Bulls and the Cavaliers will begin later that morning. Let’s show our support for LeBron and our solidarity to the CAVS management team as they drive to their meetings.

HOME signs will be distributed at the corner of Euclid and 9th (PNC Plaza) at 10 am. Fans are encouraged to wear their CAVS gear as they line the street. See you there!

Free Car Wash Downtown!

In celebration of four years of service to Downtown, the Downtown Cleveland Alliance’s Ambassadors will be offering a FREE car wash on Thursday, June 17th from 4:30p.m. until 6:30p.m. for all Downtown residents and employees. Head over to W. 6th street between Frankfort and St. Clair after work and enjoy a free car wash from the men and women who keep Downtown clean and safe on a regular basis. Other special guests will be lending a hand to show their appreciation of the Clean and Safe services.

5th Annual Cleveland Wine Festival

On June 25th and 26th, the fifth annual Cleveland Wine Festival presented by Giant Eagle will take place in its new location - Nautica Pavilion on the West Bank of downtown Cleveland’s Flats (2014 Sycamore Street).

The event offers a variety of tastings, food and wine education, and cooking demonstrations in a fabulous setting along the Cuyahoga River. Festival guests can taste from a selection of 200 international, domestic and Ohio wines and enjoy food from fine Northeast Ohio establishments including Bravo! Cucina Italiana, Bruno’s Ristorante, Grovewood Tavern, Morton’s The Steakhouse, Sophie’s Choice and The Original Greek Gyros. The festival main stage will showcase live musical entertainment, including Michael Heaton Band and Kimi Hayes Band, throughout the two-day event.

Nick Kostis Recieves Lifetime Achievement Award!

On June 13, 2010, the Ohio Restaurant Association will bestow its highest honor (a Lifetime Achievement Award) upon Downtown Restaurateur Nick Kostis, operator of Pickwick & Frolic Restaurant and Club.

The award will be given at the Ohio Restaurant Association’s Chairman’s & Industry Awards Event at the Ritz-Carlton, Cleveland, this Sunday. ORA, which celebrated its 90th anniversary this year, hosts the event to recognize excellence among restaurateurs, industry purveyors and public officials whose actions have benefited Ohio’s foodservice industry.
