The Cleveland screening of the award winning film “And the Winner Is…” will take place tonight at 7pm at the Westfield Insurance Theatre at PlayhouseSquare.
“And the Winner Is…” is an independent political satire that documents the small town of Centerville’s bold decision to elect its next mayor through a beauty pageant style event. In a flavor reminiscent of “American Idol”, seven aspiring candidates launch vibrant political campaigns honing their skills in the areas that will lead one of them to office. When the Host, played by Jerry Springer, announces “and the winner is…” things take an even more bizarre turn in this entertaining tale of American politics.
Tickets for the film screening are just $25 and include an hors d’oeuvre and cocktail reception, a prize raffle led by WMJI’s Jimmy Malone, and a discussion with the filmmakers emceed by the Plain Dealer’s Mike McIntyre. All proceeds go to benefit the Downtown Homeless Fund. The fund provides the Downtown Cleveland Alliance with the means to help the homeless of downtown get into permanent housing and supportive services.
